About The Position
Hotel Valley Ho is seeking a creative, motivated Cook II who is passionate about culinary arts and eager to grow kitchen skills. The Cook II supports the culinary leadership team in producing and fabricating food for kitchen preparation, the cafeteria, banquets, dining room, and fine dining. The role offers experience with varied cooking procedures, recipes, kitchen equipment, and a culinary team, while contributing to menus that reflect seasonal availability and the restaurant concept. The Cook II prepares ingredients and workstations, cooks consistently, maintains a clean and orderly kitchen, stores food and other items properly, and helps minimize food waste through cross-utilization. The position requires previous professional-kitchen experience and availability for a variety of day, night, and weekend shifts.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of previous culinary experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Active food handler’s certification or the ability to obtain it.
- Willingness to work a variety of day, night, and weekend shifts.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Desire to exceed expectations.
- Energetic personality.
Responsibilities
- Develop knowledge and skills in cooking procedures and methods, including grilling, sautéing, and frying.
- Read and recreate recipes and prepare food consistently.
- Create workstations with needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
- Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping and peeling vegetables and cutting meat.
- Keep the kitchen sanitized and orderly.
- Ensure food and other items are stored properly.
- Take responsibility for the quality of ingredients.
- Learn to minimize food waste through cross-utilization.
- Assist the culinary leadership team with food production and fabrication for kitchen preparation, cafeteria, banquets, dining room, and fine dining.
