About The Position

The Cook I prepares food of consistent quality and assists with kitchen functions at The Stoneleigh. The hotel is part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection and features Lions Den, a restaurant whose dishes combine seasonal ingredients, global inspiration, and a distinctly Dallas spirit. The role involves preparing food to recipe, production, and portion standards; maintaining safe food storage and rotation; supporting kitchen setup and buffet stocking; controlling food waste; and operating and cleaning kitchen equipment.

Requirements

Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 pounds on a continuous schedule, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Prepare food consistently according to recipe cards and production and portion standards, based on server checks.
Begin preparing food items in advance while avoiding over-preparation.
Date food containers and rotate food according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards, keeping perishables at proper temperatures.
Check pars for the shift, determine preparation needs, freezer pulls, and line setup, and note out-of-stock items or possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift and cover and date perishables.
Assist in establishing plans and actions to address food-cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
