About The Position

Prepare food of consistent quality and assist in kitchen functions at Kimpton Sylvan Hotel. The role involves preparing food according to recipe cards and production and portion standards, supporting kitchen setup and buffet service, monitoring food storage and temperatures, and maintaining kitchen equipment. The position also supports efforts to control food costs, waste, loss, and usage while meeting attendance expectations and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move goods weighing up to 100 lbs. on a continuous schedule, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt communication style to different audiences, including supervisors, coworkers, and the public.

Responsibilities

Prepare food consistently according to recipe cards and production and portion standards, based on server checks.
Start items prepared in advance while avoiding over-preparation.
Date food containers and rotate items according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards; keep perishables at proper temperatures.
Check shift pars, determine preparation needs, pull freezer items, and set up the line.
Note out-of-stock items and possible shortages.
Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
Return unused food items to designated storage areas for the next shift, covering and dating perishables.
Assist with plans and actions to address food-cost problems and control food waste, loss, and usage according to HEI Hotels and Resorts standards.
Operate, maintain, and properly clean kitchen equipment.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
