About The Position

Looking to start your culinary career or grow your kitchen experience? We’re hiring Cook 1 team members across multiple venues throughout Choctaw Casino & Resort Durant. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a high-volume, professional kitchen environment while learning from experienced culinary leaders. Now Hiring For Multiple Venues, Including: Grand Café, Salt & Stone, Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar, 1832 Steakhouse, Associate Dining Room, Bamboo Noodle Bar, The League, Gilley's Banquets & Catering Operations.

Requirements

  • Basic culinary knowledge or a strong desire to learn
  • Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures
  • Team-oriented mindset with a strong work ethic
  • Commitment to cleanliness and food safety
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • 6 months of culinary experience OR equivalent culinary education/experience
  • Speak, read, and write English
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Six (6) months of culinary experience required or an equivalent combination of culinary education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients (wash, chop, slice, peel, etc.)
  • Cook food using a variety of methods (grill, fry, bake, steam, braise, boil)
  • Ensure food is properly seasoned, garnished, and visually appealing
  • Follow standardized recipes and preparation methods
  • Taste food prior to service to ensure quality
  • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and rotation
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times
  • Assist with kitchen setup, service, and cleanup
  • Minimize waste through proper portioning and production levels
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Prepare multiple ingredients to be cooked to include washing, chopping, slicing, and peeling of fruits and vegetables.
  • Cook food to include baking, broiling, frying, steaming, braising, and boiling; provide meals that are cooked, tasty and visually appealing; taste foods before serving and provides garnishes for food plates.
  • Provide high quality, fresh food to guests using standardized recipes and methods of preparation.
  • Control the level of waste by proper production levels and converted portion guidelines.
  • Store and label prepared and open food following the Choctaw Nation food safety guidelines
  • Practice proper food storage and follow suitable food serving temperatures.
  • Maintain a safe, sanitary, and organized work environment by practicing proper housekeeping procedure cleaning while working.
  • Provide help with set-up, service, and clean-up of food production.
  • Rotate stock to ensure usage and disposal occur before the expiration date.
  • Perform other responsibilities may be assigned.
