About The Position

As the Converting Superintendent, you serve as a critical leadership link between plant strategy and floor execution. You will oversee a departmental structure consisting of three Supervisors and approximately seventy hourly employees. Your primary objective is to lead the production of high-quality corrugated board while maintaining a culture of safety, efficiency, and aggressive waste reduction. You are responsible for the continuous development of your team through strategic cross-training and mentorship.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (Required).
  • 3 to 5 years of proven supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Expert ability to read a tape measure with speed and precision.
  • Proficiency in calculating percentages, volume, and rates.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; must be comfortable speaking before groups of employees and customers.
  • Reasoning ability to solve complex problems involving multiple variables.
  • Ability to provide clear, common-sense instructions to your team.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience specifically within the corrugated industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the department to meet or exceed management-set quality, efficiency, and production targets.
  • Act as the primary conduit between upper management and floor staff, ensuring all shifts are aligned and shift transitions are seamless.
  • Manage and maintain optimal inventory levels of rollstock and essential corrugator supplies to prevent production delays.
  • Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Superintendent to coordinate equipment repairs and schedule critical preventive maintenance.
  • Monitor board quality continuously, reporting concerns to leadership and assisting in the refinement of quality guidelines.
  • Implement and uphold all company policies, safety protocols, and "good housekeeping" (5S) standards.
  • Ensure all departmental activities comply with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Foster a high-morale environment built on fairness, consistency, and professional confidentiality.
  • Direct, appraise, and coach your subordinate supervisors to improve their leadership and technical capabilities.
  • Lead weekly Production/Safety meetings and identify opportunities for employee cross-training in key positions.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth by participating in industry seminars and technical coursework.
