The Converting Utility is responsible for setting up, running, and cleaning printing converting equipment. This role reports to the converting shift supervisor and takes direction from the press operator. Key responsibilities include adhering to safety protocols, understanding customer specifications from work orders, coordinating with the machine crew for efficient operations, and maintaining quality and production standards. The utility performs various setup tasks such as handling cutting dies, operating machine components like the prefeeder, stacker, and counter-ejector, managing ink and glue systems, and completing necessary paperwork. They continuously monitor production quality and quantity, prepare for upcoming runs by gathering supplies, and execute assigned cleanup duties. Additionally, the role involves minor cutting die repairs, conducting quality inspections, and actively learning the duties and responsibilities of a press operator. The position requires the ability to perform job duties with or without accommodation, proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, accurate measurement skills, basic shop math, a capacity for learning, and the ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
