About The Position

It is the responsibility of the Convention Services & Sales Manager to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and execution of group programs and events in an efficient and professional manner while ensuring all established standards are maintained or exceeded. This position will serve as the primary liaison between clients and operational departments from post-contract through program completion. In addition to convention services responsibilities, this role will support the department through the solicitation and management of smaller group opportunities and local catering business. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity).

  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES A GAMING LICENSE BY THE NEVADA GAMING CONTROL BOARD

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in convention services, hospitality operations, catering, event management, or hospitality sales preferred.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications preferred.
  • Experience with Delphi, LMS, or related hospitality systems preferred.
  • Bachelor’s or related degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years management experience in food and beverage industry or special events with experience in event sales.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all operational and logistical aspects of group programs and events from post-contract through event completion.
  • Create and maintain accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), group resumes, diagrams, and event documentation.
  • Distribute finalized event information to operational departments within established timelines.
  • Conduct pre-convention meetings and planning calls with clients and internal departments.
  • Assist to achieve the smooth flow of information and communication of clients’ needs.
  • Work closely with Banquets, Culinary, Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, and all operational departments to ensure successful event execution.
  • Respond to client opportunities, issues and concerns with a sense of urgency.
  • Be present at events as needed, including weekends and holidays.
  • Attend client meetings, tours, tastings, and planning sessions.
  • Review every detail of Banquet Event Orders to ensure that all client needs are communicated and executed properly.
  • Assist operations during event execution and provide overall coordination as events begin, during, and conclude.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and files for convention services and sales groups.
  • Develop local catering and smaller group business through solicitation and relationship building.
  • Increase revenue by up-selling services/facilities during event planning and contract negotiations.
  • Follow-up on leads and inquiries to secure new business opportunities.
  • Maintain client relationships through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and emails.
  • Regularly report progress, developments, and opportunities.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the Senior Sales Manager and Director of Hotel Operations to ensure execution of strategies.
  • Attend networking events to create new business opportunities.
  • Present needs of the Banquet, Catering and Culinary Departments to the Chef de Cuisine.
  • Complete special projects as requested by Food and Beverage management and other departments.
  • Represent self with the highest level of integrity and professionalism while maintaining a service-focused approach.
  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of event status as event begins, during, and ends.
