Controls Technician Apprentice
About The Position
The Controls Technician Apprentice role supports work on climate solutions for buildings, homes, and transportation. The apprentice is expected to prioritize customer engagement and, when not interacting directly with customers, collaborate with colleagues in the office. The position calls for developing basic technical capabilities in electrical circuits, safe tool and diagnostic equipment use, wiring, sensor installation, software configuration, and reading technical diagrams, while following jobsite and electrical safety practices. The role also requires a strong willingness to learn, careful attention to detail, clear communication with mentors and supervisors, dependability, teamwork, and adaptability.
Requirements
- Basic understanding of electrical and electronic circuits at a beginner to intermediate level.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic wiring, sensor installation, and introductory software configuration skills at a beginner to intermediate level.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings at a beginner level.
- Basic understanding of jobsite and electrical safety practices.
- High willingness and ability to learn technical concepts and procedures.
- Attention to detail in documentation, wiring, and configuration tasks.
- Effective communication with mentors, journeymen, and supervisors.
- Dependability, punctuality, and teamwork.
- Basic problem-solving ability and adaptability in a dynamic field.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize engaging with customers.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the office when not directly interacting with customers.
- Use hand tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment safely.
- Perform basic wiring and sensor installation, and introductory software configuration.
- Read wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Document and complete wiring and configuration tasks accurately.
