About The Position

Johnson Controls invites currently enrolled students to apply for a Controls Tech Intern position in Columbia, South Carolina, as part of its Future Leaders Internship Program. The intern performs assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools, and troubleshoots and resolves basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems. The program offers an opportunity to apply classroom theory, build professional connections, and gain workplace experience.

Requirements

Currently enrolled as a full-time student.
Effective communicator with all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated computer skills, including use of Microsoft Excel.
U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.

Strong problem-solving skills.
Experience or coursework related to HVAC.

Responsibilities

Load system-level controller software.
Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices, such as sensors and actuators, and complete required commissioning documentation.
Keep management informed of job progress and issues.
Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
Complete administrative tasks, including timesheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
Document changes and provide information for as-built documentation.
Follow safety standards and attend required safety training, with a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
