About The Position

The Controls Systems Engineering Co-op supports manufacturing automation and digitalization initiatives within the plant. The role drives the implementation and deployment of manufacturing software applications and MES visualizations using Ignition or a comparable industrial SCADA/MES visualization platform. Hands-on Ignition experience, or demonstrated equivalent experience with a similar industrial platform, is required to design, configure, test, and deploy solutions correctly. The co-op also supports BPCS and controls activities, including PLC connectivity, equipment integration, data collection, troubleshooting, and commissioning. The position works with operators, maintenance, team leads, supervisors, IT, and engineers to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions. It also supports production-floor implementation and commissioning activities and maintains controls documentation, system architecture information, configuration records, and troubleshooting procedures.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer engineering, automation engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on knowledge of Ignition, including development and deployment of industrial HMI, SCADA, MES, or manufacturing visualization applications; equivalent hands-on experience with a similar industrial platform may be considered.
  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming, PLC troubleshooting, and industrial controls systems.
  • Ability to connect PLCs and manufacturing equipment to higher-level manufacturing systems and troubleshoot communication issues.
  • Familiarity with BPCS, industrial automation, control system architecture, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working on the production floor and supporting implementation and commissioning activities.
