About The Position

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Controller in our Finance department. This position focuses on aligning finance strategies and overseeing accounting operations within the department as well as with other departments in the organization. The Controller will function as the lead of the department accountants and will deliver services that reflect the mission of the organization and the business objectives of the Finance Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • Proficient knowledge of computerized accounting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and use of logic.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Understanding of confidentiality.
  • Possess personal attributes of honesty and trustworthiness.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree
  • Two years previous accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of the preparation of monthly financial statements and all related tasks.
  • Maintenance of the accounting records of the organization.
  • Coordinate the training, review of work, and overall organization of the tasks assigned to the accountants.
  • Preparation and review of journal entries for various transactions.
  • Perform reconciliations, and more complex analysis of general ledger accounts.
  • Review and verify posting from other systems into general ledger, including but not limited to, Revenue Cycle, Fixed Assets, and Miscellaneous Cash Receipts Journal.
  • Perform complex analytical review of financial data and identify trends.
  • Prepare required audit, cost report and tax reporting schedules.
  • Assist department directors in understanding financial statements and in budget development and monitoring.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of various reports.
  • Interact with all departments in a professional manner.
  • Assure that the accounting cycle is completed by deadliness.
  • Obtain all appropriate and necessary information from the system.
  • File and maintain accounting records.
  • Adhere to department deadlines.
  • Assist with computer upgrades and reconciliations. Primary department liaison with IT regarding Meditech and BCA.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining financial dashboards.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
