About The Position

The position is full-time position and a member of the Accounting Team, responsible for providing financial recordkeeping and full-charge bookkeeping for WVS non-profit and overseeing the for-profit Social Enterprise, WVS LLC. It includes direct involvement in day-to-day accounting activities, financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, effective financial management and analysis to support organizational decision-making. This role ensures timely and accurate accounting, budget monitoring, grants recording and reporting and compliance with financial regulations. Other accounting-related functions as requested by the Director or Executive Director. Must be able to successfully prioritize and manage accounting needs while maintaining a high level of service and professionalism in an environment of high expectations and deadlines. This position requires a high level of expertise in Excel, Quick books Online and other accounting software.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting or related field or years of experience in a similar or related position will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting.
  • 4+ years leading and developing teams.
  • Public and/or private accounting background.
  • Technical accounting skills with a strong understanding of current GAAP standards.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Strong and professional interpersonal skills and work ethic.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including being self aware and possessing good listening skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization as well as customers and vendors while fostering positive relationships.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills that can effectively organize information, tasks, and events.
  • Excellent knowledge of principles and processes for providing record keeping and financial flow from beginning to closing processes as well as accounting concepts.
  • Proficient skill level in computer software including QuickBooks Accounting Software and intermediate to advanced experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, and all MS Office Suite-all versions.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures such as word processing, managing files and records and designing forms.
  • Proactive approach that is looking for ways to maintain and improve processes and help people.
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated, able to work with limited supervision and to work closely with a team
  • Ability to pass Washington State Background check, DSHS background check
  • Possess and maintain current Driver’s license and retain auto insurance as law requires.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and manage day-to-day accounting functions, payroll, general ledger and overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable etc.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial records and reconciliations
  • Manage and review monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Monthly reconciliation of WVS Balance sheet accounts and overseeing WVS LLC Balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls and accounting policies
  • Maintain and organize QuickBooks Online records, including chart of accounts, classes, locations, customer/vendor profiles.
  • Monitor cash flow and manage banking activities
  • Coordinate and support annual audits and required financial filings (e.g., Form 990)
  • Manage and monitor all new contracts associated to Contract billings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including grant monitoring and related restrictions
  • Complete all government, accounting, charitable and license renewals and submit required documents to ensure compliance with federal, state and county licenses.
  • Supervise and support accounting staff
  • Prepare and present financial reports to Board and leadership
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and identify variances
  • Support department leads with budget tracking and financial understanding
  • Maintain accurate tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Provide financial data and analysis for reporting requirements
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes
  • Remain current on new accounting trends and continuously apply best practices in financial record-keeping.
  • Support integration or optimization of financial and related systems
  • Support the annual budgeting process and organizational financial planning
  • Help develop financial forecasts and projections
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making by leadership
  • Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Contribute to long-term financial planning along with leadership team
  • Support leadership in evaluating program and operational costs
  • Establish good working relationships with other team members and the leadership team.
  • Foster positive communications and relationships with all employees, members of management, vendors and clients.
