About The Position
This project-based role supports clients across accounting and finance functions and works with a variety of clients. The Controller may serve in various capacities, including Controller, CFO, or Project Leader, and is responsible for managing multiple client stakeholders and delivering accurate work using appropriate technical approaches. The role oversees close processes, supports SEC reporting and due diligence, resolves complex accounting issues, and helps clients implement new accounting pronouncements, including ASC 606 and ASC 842. It also involves preparing accounting reports, leading ad hoc projects, documenting and improving processes, and identifying additional BDO services that may benefit clients. Other duties may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting preferred.
- Ten or more years of accounting-related experience required.
- Experience working with public, private, or private equity companies required.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, or SAP required.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
- Technical skills commensurate with level of experience.
- Demonstrate professionalism under pressure.
- Be a team player, contribute knowledge, and ask for help when needed.
- Be a fast learner and work ethically and effectively.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers at all levels of customer and internal organizations.

Responsibilities
- Function in various capacities for clients, including Controller, CFO, or Project Leader.
- Manage multiple client stakeholders simultaneously.
- Prepare miscellaneous accounting reports.
- Participate in and lead ad hoc projects.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing.
- Perform due diligence procedures for clients.
- Assist clients with SEC reporting.
- Resolve complex accounting issues and assist clients with implementing accounting pronouncements, including ASC 606 and ASC 842.
- Ensure work is accurate and follows the correct technical approach.
- Create and document processes and suggest and implement process improvements.
- Recognize and offer additional appropriate BDO services to clients.
- Perform other duties as required.
