About The Position

A closely held manufacturing company with international operations is seeking a hands-on Interim Controller to oversee accounting and reporting. The position is based in Cool Springs, Tennessee, with 1 to 2 days onsite. The assignment is expected to last at least 12 months. The schedule is full-time for the first month, then approximately 20 hours per week.

Strong interpersonal skills are the most important qualification. The successful candidate will communicate confidently, navigate conflict, handle direct feedback without taking it personally, and remain calm under pressure. This role requires performing detailed accounting work, not simply overseeing it.

Requirements

• Controller-level experience with strong general ledger, reconciliation, and financial reporting skills.
• Some foreign currency translation accounting experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including confident communication, conflict navigation, ability to handle direct feedback, and composure under pressure.
• Willingness to perform detailed accounting work.
• Strong intermediate Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and XLOOKUP.

Nice To Haves

• Sage MAS 500 experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close, financial reporting, and cash flow forecasting.
• Supervise a bookkeeper and review reconciliations and other accounting work for accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate reporting across domestic and international operations, including foreign currency translation accounting.
• Use Sage MAS 500 and Excel to prepare largely manual reports, resolve discrepancies, and improve accounting processes and controls.
