About The Position

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support a privately held organization in Kansas City, Missouri, for approximately two months. This is a hands-on consulting opportunity during a period of transition. The organization has a relatively straightforward structure consisting primarily of investments and an operating business unit. The Controller will partner directly with the operating business’s COO and work on-site five days per week in Kansas City. The ideal consultant is a seasoned Controller who is comfortable both overseeing and personally performing accounting work in a lean environment, can quickly understand existing processes, and can independently keep the books, close, and financial reporting moving forward.

  • Demonstrated ability to personally manage month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial statement preparation.
  • Comfort working hands-on, with responsibility for both oversight and execution.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes.
  • Ability to quickly assess existing accounting activities and operate independently with minimal ramp-up.
  • Ability to work on-site five days per week in Kansas City.

  • Support accounting activities associated with the organization’s investments and operating business.
  • Provide accounting oversight for inventory-related activity at the operating business.
  • Work closely with the administrative team member responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Maintain continuity of accounting processes and controls during the interim period.
  • Partner directly with the COO of the operating business on financial and accounting matters.
  • Address additional day-to-day accounting needs as they arise in a lean, hands-on environment.
