About The Position

Take full ownership of the accounting functions for a well-established, growth-focused construction general contractor generating $30M–$60M annually on residential and commercial construction projects. You’ll report directly to the company President and directly influence financial direction, operational performance, and long-term business outcomes. The right candidate needs to have the confidence and skillset to run full accounting functions independently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Construction industry experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with Sage Platforms (required)
  • Proven ability to translate financial data for non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail with strong time management and deadline ownership
  • Self-starter with a team-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting and financial operations with full GAAP compliance
  • Own job cost accounting, billing, AP/AR, general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Build and manage cash flow forecasts and financial dashboards
  • Partner with Operations and Project Managers on budgets and cost-to-complete projections
  • Identify financial risks, cost variances, and performance opportunities across projects
  • Oversee payroll review, vendor payments, and receivables tracking
  • Establish and strengthen internal controls and reporting accuracy
  • Collaborate with executive leadership in weekly strategic meetings (EOS environment)
  • Coordinate with auditors, tax teams, and corporate finance on reporting and compliance
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small but critical accounting team
  • Support annual budgeting, capital planning, and insurance/bonding processes
