About The Position

The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and supervises general accounting staff, Payroll, and Accounts Payable. The role involves assisting the CFO in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP. The Controller is responsible for ensuring compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures and also ensuring internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls. The Controller is to ensure the monthly close deadlines are timely met, account reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities, account analysis is performed, prepare various packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, etc.), and to assist in various projects as requested. The Controller is to assist the CFO who is responsible for the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment and monitoring of mitigation plans, and for the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO. The Controller is to assist the CFO in the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • At least 5 years of progressive financial health care or equivalent experience in the areas of general accounting
  • Experience in financial systems
  • Experience in financial statement preparation, review and analysis
  • Multi-discipline management experience
  • Unquestionable ethics
  • Style and substance that generates respect and credibility
  • Resilience to working under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, challenge and develop professional staff
  • Ability to work across functional lines to engage disparate resources to work together to achieve results
  • Common sense with a solid generalist background

  • Excellent communication skills
