About The Position

Aston Carter is seeking a Controller to join their team. This is a permanent, fully remote position based out of Philadelphia, PA. The Controller will be responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, reviewing account reconciliations, supporting billing and invoicing reconciliations, and assisting with QuickBooks Online and Excel-based tasks. The role involves preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, providing reports to leadership, supervising a team of 2 accounting staff, managing contracts, ensuring GAAP compliance, developing internal controls, and coordinating with external auditors and tax professionals. The Controller will also calculate quarterly bonuses, and assist the CFO with budgets, forecasts, and cash management as needed.

Requirements

  • Director/Controller level with prior experience leading teams
  • Public accounting background strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting role, with at least 3 years at the Senior Accountant or Manager level
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with multi-site environments required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • CPA
  • Intermediate Excel with Pivots/LOOKUPS
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Effective communicator who thrives in remote work settings
  • Comfortable working with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Review or conduct account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts
  • Support billing and invoicing reconciliations for outside billing provider and ME close activities
  • Assist with QuickBooks Online and Excel-based tasks
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for cost control and improvement.
  • Provide insightful financial reports to family leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise a team including 2 accounting staff
  • Manage the process for contracts
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards (GAAP) and tax regulations.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals to facilitate the audit or review and tax return preparation processes
  • Calculating quarterly bonuses for corporate employees
  • Assist CFO in budgets and forecasts when needed
  • Assisting CFO in cash management when needed
