Controller

BrinqaAustin, TX

About The Position

Brinqa is the leading provider of unified cyber risk management and security analytics. Our software empowers companies to make cyber risk decisions across a wide range of platforms quickly and efficiently. We help our customers’ cyber security and technology teams discover, prioritize and treat the most important risks based on real-time risk analytics, automated risk assessments, and remediation. With actionable insights and timely communications provided by our software, our customers are reducing their response times to the constantly changing and emerging threats and saving their business from potential negative and significant impacts. We’re looking for a Controller who loves to build, not just maintain. You’ll own the accounting function end-to-end, close the books with confidence, and be a key voice in shaping how our finance infrastructure scales. You’ll work closely with the CFO and have one direct report (Sr. Accountant) to grow with you. This is a hands-on role with real scope. You’ll be expected to bring structure and judgment, and you should be genuinely excited about using automation and modern tooling to make the team faster and smarter — not just processing transactions.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time inside SaaS or subscription businesses
  • You’ve built processes, not just inherited them
  • Strong command of US GAAP, ASC 606, and SaaS-specific accounting nuances (ARR, deferred revenue, commissions under ASC 340-40)
  • Experience owning the external audit relationship end-to-end
  • Hands-on with tools — comfortable with Rillet, Ramp, and Salesforce
  • Automation-oriented mindset — you’re always asking “why are we doing this manually?” and you do something about it
  • Clear, direct communicator who can translate numbers into narrative for non-finance stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close — on time, every time, with a clear audit trail
  • Build and improve scalable accounting processes — AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, equity — from the ground up where needed
  • Manage our tech stack (QuickBooks/Intacct, Salesforce, Rillet, Ramp) and drive automation to reduce manual work
  • Own revenue recognition under ASC 606
  • Own and manage the annual external audit
  • Partner with Sales Ops on the full quote-to-cash cycle, to ensure clean revenue recognition, ARR reporting, and commissions calculations.
  • Establish and maintain the internal control environment — documented policies, clean reconciliations, and a foundation that scales as we grow
  • Prepare financial statements and support tax filings and board-level reporting
  • Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic finance projects as the company grows
  • Mentor and develop the Sr. Accountant; model what great finance culture looks like
