About The Position

Working as a Controller, Assistant Regional, you will be responsible for assisting with monthly fiscal close, forecast, and budgets, including preparation of financial statements for assigned Regions or Subsidiaries. The successful candidate will be highly motivated professional with proven ability to establish excellent working relationships with various team members and levels of management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent professional experience
  • A minimum of five years of accounting/finance experience in the retail industry
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive results
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively partner with operations and senior leadership
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Access, and SAP
  • Travel up to 20%

Responsibilities

  • Lead the oversight of monthly P&L and balance sheet activity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies
  • Direct the review of general ledger and balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving reconciliation issues in a timely manner
  • Oversee the reconciliation and analysis of key ledger accounts, including accounts receivable, cashless transactions, inventory, and commissions
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance and financial integrity
  • Drive the preparation of financial reporting, including flash reports, forecasts, and budgets
  • Assist in the assessment of new business and retention proposals, including the review and enforcement of contractual obligations
  • Support and lead special projects, including strategic initiatives supporting branch operations as well as regional, divisional, and sector priorities
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 5–6 direct reports, fostering a high-performance and accountable culture
  • Partner closely with the RVP and operations leadership to support financial performance and operational decision-making
  • Champion the training, development, and continuous improvement of accounting staff across assigned branches.
