About The Position

This position is responsible for the disassembly and assembly of control valves and regulators, including performing inspections, machining, calibration, testing, and final inspections. The role requires a strong understanding of various valve and actuator types, as well as pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers. The Lead Technician is also responsible for mentoring and assisting lower-level technicians and upholding customer commitment standards. This position involves travel and requires regular attendance.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • A minimum of 7 years in the valve repair industry preferred
  • TWIC

  • Valid State-issued driver’s license
  • Knowledge of Machinery fundamentals, including Control Valves, Pneumatic Safety Systems, and Rotary Valves.
  • Ability to read and understand customer data spec sheets for final assembly of control valves and regulators.
  • Knowledge of industrial and residential regulators
  • Knowledge of Oil and Gas and processing plant equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of various digital positioners and controllers typically used on control valves including, but not limited to Emerson Fisher Products typically used in the oil and gas industry
  • Ability to use basic hand and pneumatic tools confidently and safely.
  • Working as a self-directed field/shop environment worker.
  • Read and record measurements using standard measuring tools such as manual torque wrenches, dial calipers, Vernier calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, tape measure, and scale.

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly and assembly of control valves and accessories, including various types of valves and actuators.
  • Read and interpret sales orders, customer data sheets, and OEM manuals.
  • Perform visual inspections during disassembly and reassembly to ensure component quality and correctness.
  • Identify and initiate changes in the sales order system as needed.
  • Take digital pictures and transfer them to the ERP system for tracking.
  • Safely disassemble valves and actuators.
  • Evaluate parts, perform chemical cleaning, and ensure critical dimension requirements are met.
  • Identify materials using approved methods and complete material reports.
  • Complete all quality control sheets accurately.
  • Understand and comply with all special requirements, factory, and customer requirements.
  • Perform basic machining processes such as drilling and grinding.
  • Safely assemble control valves, including performing calibration of positioners and controllers.
  • Install stem packing, attach actuators, set valve travel, and set actuator bench set.
  • Tube up positioners and controllers to the actuator and other accessories.
  • Safely test control valves using compressed air, water, and nitrogen, and accurately complete test reports.
  • Tube up, calibrate, and troubleshoot various pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers.
  • Perform calibration procedures for Valvelink signatures for digital positioners.
  • Generate and analyze reports and graphs associated with valve signatures using Valvelink software.
  • Troubleshoot and remedy problems encountered during the valve scan process.
  • Perform complete final inspection of valve assemblies, including testing and reports.
  • Operate 475 and TREX handheld communicators.
  • Perform disassembly and assembly of new regulators and relief valves.
  • Safely and accurately perform spring, orifice, and body changes to regulators and relief valves.
  • Safely and accurately test and set regulators and relief valves to desired set points.
  • Ensure JHC TCC (Total Customer Commitment) standards are upheld.
  • Actively support JHC colleagues and build relationships internally and externally.
  • Travel as required.
  • Accurately perform final inspections for work completed by level I and level II techs.
  • Assist level I and II techs through the assembly build process.
