About The Position

The Control Systems Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of control systems and related equipment within the district's facilities. This role ensures the optimal performance and reliability of building automation systems, HVAC controls, and other automated processes. The technician will work closely with the maintenance department to support the operational needs of the district.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic control systems, preferably in a facilities or building maintenance environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems.
  • Knowledge of control system hardware, software, and networking principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose complex control system issues.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and practices related to electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, HVAC, or a related field.
  • Certifications in specific control system platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).
  • Experience with DDC (Direct Digital Controls) programming and configuration.
  • Knowledge of network protocols used in control systems (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair control systems, including HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), and other electronic control devices.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with control systems and equipment, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals related to control systems.
  • Calibrate control devices and sensors to ensure accurate readings and system functionality.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency situations related to control system failures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff and departments to ensure seamless integration and operation of systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in control system technology and recommend upgrades or improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies.
