About The Position

The Flooring Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of flooring within the district's facilities. This role ensures that all flooring is safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing, contributing to the overall upkeep and appearance of school buildings. The technician will work as part of the Maintenance Department, following established procedures and safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in flooring installation and repair.
  • Knowledge of different types of flooring materials and installation techniques.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of safety procedures.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specialized flooring such as epoxy or rubberized surfaces.
  • Certifications in flooring installation.
  • Experience working in a school or public facility environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair carpet, tile, vinyl, and other flooring materials.
  • Prepare surfaces for flooring installation, including cleaning, leveling, and patching.
  • Remove old flooring materials.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in flooring installation and repair.
  • Ensure work areas are clean and safe.
  • Follow safety regulations and district policies.
  • Respond to work orders for flooring issues.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff as needed.
