About The Position

Vertech is seeking a Control Systems Integrator III to develop industrial automation solutions, primarily for solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. The role plans, designs, programs, implements, tests, and commissions PLC, HMI, and SCADA control systems, with a focus on SEL RTAC and Ignition Perspective. The integrator owns project control-system architecture and documentation, serves as a technical lead and primary technical contact for clients, and helps guide junior engineers. The position also involves troubleshooting systems in-house and in the field, including during startup and commissioning. Travel of up to 20% is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or a related engineering field, or relevant experience.
• Three to seven years of experience developing PLC-controlled SCADA systems, preferably in a project-based industry.
• At least two years of experience developing PLC programs, HMI screens, and SCADA systems.
• Expert PLC programming in ladder logic, function block diagram, and structured text across multiple PLC platforms, such as Rockwell, Siemens, GE, or Modicon.
• Thorough understanding of at least one major HMI/SCADA platform, such as Ignition, Wonderware, FactoryTalk View SE, or GE Proficy.
• Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, EtherNet/IP, and DNP3.
• Comfort reading and redlining electrical drawings and P&IDs and specifying PLC and I/O hardware.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, and ability to work independently across multiple projects.
• Ability to travel up to 20%.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Ignition Perspective, SEL RTAC, or solar PV, BESS, and power projects.
• Ignition Gold and Wonderware Certified Developer status, or willingness to earn both within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, program, and implement PLC/HMI-based control systems, primarily using SEL RTAC and Ignition Perspective.
• Design and implement SCADA systems for real-time data acquisition, alarming, and control at solar PV and BESS sites.
• Own control-system architecture, including PLC, SCADA, networks, I/O, and interfaces, and document key technical decisions.
• Write structured, well-documented PLC code.
• Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing HMI interfaces.
• Act as the technical lead on projects and the primary technical contact for clients.
• Break down project technical components and guide junior-level engineers.
• Test, troubleshoot, and validate systems in-house and in the field through startup and commissioning.
• Write sequence of operations (SOO) documents and document control-system designs, configurations, and procedures.
