The Control Systems Engineering Technician- Capital Projects is responsible for performing a variety of tasks for control systems support at Company facilities. Provides routine and emergency service related to control systems, SCADA, instrumentation, pump control, telemetry communication systems to include cellular and radio systems, networking, PLC programming, development and editing SCADA, and various electrical systems following NEC, OSHA and NFPA-70E safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics or related field, HR, please make notation on year’s of experience or ability to obtain cert/degree in certain amount of time
  • Three to five years’ experience in a Control Systems related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, electrical theory and electrical systems, including safety knowledge.
  • Successfully responds to all emergency situations independently, and assist other Control System Engineering Technicians with decisions regarding less routine on call situations.
  • Performs routine on call duties.
  • Knowledge of mechanical aptitude including safety topics.
  • Ability to use various equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, computers, etc.
  • Have the ability to troubleshoot, build, modifying, install, maintain, repair, calibrate, inspect and test a variety of electrical control systems, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, analytical and telemetric systems.
  • Ability to work independently, safely and exercise judgment using various technical manuals, policies and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead or subject matter expert for control systems–related capital projects from design through closeout.
  • Perform design and constructability reviews and evaluate equipment selection and system architecture.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
  • Lead or support system commissioning, startup, and operational turnover.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, ITS, and operations staff to ensure system integration and operational readiness.
  • Support capital project closeout by verifying as-built documentation, final PLC/SCADA programs, and lessons learned.
  • Performs annual production testing company-wide, which includes calibration, services, and tests of various metering devices.
  • Prepares documentation to include updating of various technical, PLC programs, SCADA applications, schematics, manuals, and operational guides/progress reports.
  • Performs non-rate revenue duties, including demand and routine support to contract operations.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
