About The Position

Under direction, is responsible for performing professional work as part of a project team preparing and disseminating information to citizens, businesses, and City officials on upcoming or current capital improvement projects. Exercises no supervision. Work Location West Service Center - 6798 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, TX 78238, USA Work Hours 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years of capital projects or construction related experience.
  • One (1) year of public engagement experience.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and other basic office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to plan, prepare, and conduct presentations to large and small groups.
  • Ability to negotiate solutions to sensitive problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff and the general public.
  • Ability to perform all the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of basic engineering design.
  • GIS mapping and ARCGIS.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction material, specifications.
  • Knowledge of Street Maintenance program.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research, gathers information, and maintains an efficient system of immediately available data.
  • Serves as a liaison for citizens, businesses, and construction company representatives to inform and facilitate solutions to problems.
  • Prepares and distributes flyers to citizens and businesses who will be impacted by project construction.
  • Attends all project related meetings such as Pre-Bid Pre-Construction and design team meetings.
  • Responds to citizen complaints and inquiries concerning capital projects.
  • Facilitates the design and installation of project signs.
  • Plans and prepares press releases and public service announcements.
  • Visits construction sites on a regular basis to monitor project progress.
  • Reviews contracts and construction schedules as they relate to phasing and the progress of the project.
  • Prepares detailed written reports on regular basis.
  • Compiles and maintains project information and data, including current project status and construction design.
  • Researches and recommends solutions to project related problems that may cause citizen inconvenience.
  • Plans, prepares, and conducts community meetings held during and after regular work hours.
  • Provides easily accessible information for use by the City Manager, City Council, or other interested parties through the use of electronic data processing equipment.
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
