About The Position

This role involves implementing cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and throughput. The engineer will be responsible for updating and documenting electrical, electronics, control, and mechanical system changes, modifications, and upgrades. Key responsibilities include developing, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluating existing controls and automation systems, as well as wiring, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting high and low voltage systems. The position requires troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, drives, motors, sensors, and automation systems, and collaborating with manufacturing, maintenance, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to solve complex technical problems. The engineer will also develop and manage engineering and maintenance projects, ensure compliance with safety and building codes, and provide technical support to production and maintenance teams. Additionally, the role involves assigned activities on infrastructure and facilities, participating in an On Call Engineer rotation for a 24/7 production facility, encouraging new techniques and fact-based problem solving, continually improving the safety record, and adopting LEAN processes. The role may oversee outside vendors making repairs, modifications, and/or installations.

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of industrial PLC platforms such as Omron, Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen‑Bradley, Control Techniques, and other equivalent systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability for control, automation, and integrated mechatronic systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and update electrical, electronic, control, and basic mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to manage, coordinate, and lead project installations, equipment upgrades, and system improvements.
  • Experience working with AC and DC drives, motors, and motion control systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of personal and industrial computer systems, including hardware and software used in manufacturing environments.
  • Good understanding of the mechanical aspects of complex automated manufacturing systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and machine mechanisms.
  • Working knowledge of SCADA, HMI, and industrial communication systems.
  • Ability to safely work with voltages ranging from low‑voltage DC control systems to three‑phase 480 VAC power systems.
  • Good English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Expertise in computer applications such as Excel, Word, and any drafting software.
  • Analytical thinker, self-starter, responsible, independent, and team oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant industrial manufacturing experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Certification, training, or formal coursework related to electrical, electronics, automation, mechatronics, or industrial maintenance is desirable.
  • Apprentice-level or higher electrician certification, controls/automation certification, or equivalent industrial training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assigned activities on infrastructure and facility.
  • Participating in the On Call Engineer rotation for a 24/7 production facility.
  • Encourage use of new techniques and focus on fact-based problem solving.
  • Continually improve safety record by proactive reporting and leading by example.
  • Adopt and follow LEAN processes.
