About The Position

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking to hire an intern who will support its Clinical Professional Services (CPS) Division in Central Office Boston. The intern will have the opportunity to observe/participate in an array of Workforce Development initiatives across DMH including pipeline development and staff training and development. The period of service for this internship is May 26, 2026 through September 04, 2026. The salary for this position is $19 an hour. Working hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with days off on Saturday and Sunday. A criminal background check will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired. Education, licensure and certifications will be verified in accordance with the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines. Education and license/certification information provided by the selected candidate(s) is subject to the Massachusetts Public Records Law and may be published on the Commonwealth’s website.

Requirements

  • Must have received the COVID-19 vaccination and Influenza vaccination, or have taken required mitigation measures.
  • Successful candidates will be required to acknowledge and attest to your vaccination status for both COVID-19 and Influenza.
  • A criminal background check will be completed on the recommended candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory current student training opportunities within DMH sites and facilities
  • Inventory current schools/programs with students participating in DMH student training opportunities
  • Clarify procedures for onboarding
  • Identify recommendations for core training/didactics
  • Develop survey/strategies to support on-going outreach and engagement from DMH after their internships are complete.
