About The Position

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking to hire an intern who will support the Commissioner's Office in Central Office Boston. The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. The Department establishes standards to ensure effective and culturally competent care to promote recovery. The Department sets policy, promotes self-determination, protects human rights and supports mental health training and research.

Requirements

  • Must have received the COVID-19 vaccination and Influenza vaccination, or have taken required mitigation measures.
  • Successful candidates will be required to acknowledge and attest to your vaccination status for both COVID-19 and Influenza.
  • A criminal background check will be completed on the recommended candidate as required by the regulations set forth by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services prior to the candidate being hired.
  • Education, licensure and certifications will be verified in accordance with the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Advance strategies to mitigate risks of limited system capacity by improving inpatient discharge processes.
  • Assist with process mapping and workflow documentation related to inpatient discharge planning and intra-agency coordination.
  • Support development of standardized tools to facilitate process improvements, such as meeting facilitation guides, tracking templates, and process documentation.
  • Support re-procurement of DMH’s flagship community behavioral health services
  • Conduct analysis of client trends to support potential programmatic changes, particularly analysis of client incident rates
  • Support preparation for, and synthesis of, internal and potentially external stakeholder focus groups regarding program successes and challenges to date
