About The Position

Scale LLP is seeking an experienced litigator with an active California bar license who resides in California. The attorney will work directly with an established partner and support existing client matters across the outdoor recreation, sports, hospitality, and resort industries. Matters include litigation and counseling involving complex liability, catastrophic injury, risk management, and employment issues. Clients include ski resorts, mountain bike parks, hotels, venues, equipment manufacturers, retailers, and trade associations.

This is a remote contract engagement for an initial term of 6 to 8 months, averaging 20 to 30 hours per week. Work is already available through an established client pipeline and is anticipated to remain relatively steady. The position offers flexibility in where the attorney works within California and a high possibility of becoming a full-time opportunity. It may also offer a supported way for attorneys returning to practice to rejoin legal work.

Requirements

• Active California bar license and residence in California.
• At least 7 years of civil litigation experience.
• Strong legal writing skills, including motion practice and pretrial filings.
• Sound judgment and strong communication skills.
• Ability to manage matters with a high degree of ownership.
• Interest in serving clients in the outdoor recreation, sports, hospitality, and resort industries.

• Experience with complex commercial litigation, liability matters, or catastrophic injury matters.
