Contract Law Expert
About The Position
Turing invites Contract Law and Commercial Transactions experts to join projects that fine-tune AI models. The role applies expertise in contract drafting, UCC transactions, breach of contract analysis, and commercial dispute resolution to evaluate how AI reasons about contractual obligations. No prior AI experience is required. The expert will review AI-generated responses to U.S. contract law hypotheticals, assess them using a structured legal rubric, identify gaps in AI reasoning, and provide detailed annotations and written feedback to improve AI models. They will also collaborate with researchers and project managers to align evaluation standards and project goals. This is a flexible, fully remote freelance engagement requiring 10–30 hours per week. The initial duration is approximately one month, with possible extension based on performance and project needs.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active or inactive bar admission.
- At least 3 years of U.S. legal practice in contract law, commercial transactions, or commercial litigation.
- Strong reasoning skills across common law contracts, UCC, and commercial agreements.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
- High ethical standards.

Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses to U.S. contract law hypotheticals, including formation issues, breach analysis, UCC Article 2 sale-of-goods disputes, and damages calculations.
- Apply a structured legal rubric to assess issue spotting, accuracy of common law and UCC principles, and application of contract interpretation doctrines.
- Identify gaps in AI reasoning involving consideration, conditions, anticipatory repudiation, liquidated damages, and third-party beneficiary rights.
- Provide detailed, high-quality annotations and written feedback to refine AI models.
- Collaborate with researchers and project managers to align evaluation standards and project goals.
