Contract Development, Senior Manager Amgen is seeking a Contract Development Senior Manager – Payer Contracting to join the U.S. Value & Access team. This role leads pricing and contracting activities for assigned national payer accounts and serves as the primary contracting lead for internal stakeholders and customer-facing account partners. The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and executing contracting strategies that align with brand, access, and financial objectives. This role works cross-functionally with Market Access, Legal, Coverage and Pricing, Finance, Contract Operations, and other partners to structure offers, support governance discussions, execute agreements, and address post-signature contract questions. This position requires strong judgment, cross-functional leadership, project management skills, and the ability to translate customer and market dynamics into clear contracting recommendations for senior leadership. This role is remote and requires regular overlap with U.S. Pacific time zone working hours.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of sales & marketing operations experience OR Master's degree and 4 years of sales & marketing operations or pricing experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of sales & marketing operations or pricing experience OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of sales & marketing operations or pricing experience OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of sales & marketing operations or pricing experience
  • Ability to read and understand complex legal contract documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred (i.e. MBA or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience solving complex business problems and managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales and marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility and leadership experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Previous experience providing and delivering information for decision making by executive management.
  • Ability to manage in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment.
  • Deep understanding of the US commercial and government healthcare and reimbursement environment.
  • Previous experience leading a contract development team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead contracting strategy and execution for assigned national payer accounts, in alignment with brand and business objectives.
  • Own the end-to-end contract development process in partnership with Market Access account management, Legal, Coverage and Pricing, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop pricing proposals, term sheets, RFP responses, and amendments to support customer negotiations and contract renewals.
  • Serve as the business owner for assigned customer contracts, including contract strategy, negotiation support, execution, and issue escalation.
  • Provide clear, decision-oriented insights to senior leadership on account dynamics, pricing considerations, and contract recommendations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of assigned customers, including business model, membership trends, financial considerations, market position, and relevant organizational changes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support product-specific pricing strategies and ensure contract terms are operationally executable.
  • Support post-signature contract needs, including contract interpretation, payment-related questions, dispute resolution, formulary validation, and other operational matters.
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and recommendations related to customer strategy, contract performance, and pricing decisions.
