About The Position

This position is for FBN's Summer 2026 Internship Cohort (May - August) Farmers Business Network is looking for a Content Intern to join our Category team and help educate farmers on the products, practices, and decisions that drive their operation's success. Reporting to the Category Manager, you will be responsible for researching and producing weekly content pieces rooted in agronomy, product knowledge, and practical farm management. Your work will directly fuel FBN's weekly email programs, blog, and social media channels, helping farmers make better-informed decisions throughout the crop year. This is an ideal role for someone studying agronomy, agricultural communications, crop science, or a related field who wants hands-on experience creating content that reaches real farmers at scale.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in agronomy, crop science, or related field
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible, farmer-friendly language
  • Basic understanding of crop production, agronomic principles, or farm operations
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet weekly deadlines consistently over the duration of the internship
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with limited supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience writing for agricultural audiences, student publications, extension programs, or similar outlets
  • Familiarity with one or more of FBN's core categories: seed, crop protection, animal health, or equipment
  • Exposure to content management systems, email platforms, or social media scheduling tools
  • Personal connection to agriculture; grew up on a farm, worked in ag retail, or has field experience

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and deliver one agronomic or educational content piece per week for the full calendar year aligned to the assigned category (e.g., seed, crop protection, crop nutrition, equipment, livestock, etc.)
  • Develop content that is accurate, practical, and written in a tone that resonates with working farmers with clarity and credibility
  • Adapt each piece for use across three formats: email, blog post, and social media, ensuring each version is appropriately tailored to the channel
  • Collaborate with the Category Manager to align content topics with seasonal crop calendar timing, product launches, and key grower decision windows
  • Conduct research using agronomic sources, supplier data, university extension materials, FBN data, and guidance from internal subject matter experts
  • Maintain a content calendar to track assignments, drafts, review cycles, and publish deadlines
  • Incorporate feedback from the Category Manager and revise content to meet FBN's editorial standards
  • Build a working knowledge of the FBN product catalog within the assigned category to ensure content is relevant and commercially grounded
