Explore Content & Guide Development Lead

Archdiocese of ChicagoChicago, IL
$70,000 - $85,000

About The Position

The Content & Guide Development Lead leads the creation and curation of content to shape meaningful spiritual encounters for those exploring faith. Through thoughtfully designed content, this role helps create environments where curiosity, reflection, and honest conversation can emerge naturally, supporting real movement toward meaning, belonging, and purpose. This role forms, trains, and accompanies Guides so they are spiritually attentive, relationally grounded, and equipped to walk with others with humility and discernment. By integrating content development with Guide formation and training, the role ensures that encounters are human, trustworthy, and responsive to the lived experiences of Explorers, using relevant, well-timed content to support the journey before, during, and after events, without pressure, presumption, or coercion.

Requirements

  • Graduate-level ministry degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years in parish ministry (including both paid professional experience and volunteer experience).
  • A lived and active Catholic faith, marked by humility, attentiveness, and respect for people at different stages of belief, belonging, or exploration.
  • Experience creating or facilitating content that supports reflection, conversation, or spiritual formation (e.g., talks, small group materials, retreats, discussion guides, or digital content).
  • Demonstrated comfort accompanying others through questions, doubt, resistance, or searching related to faith and meaning.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or forming volunteers, small group leaders, or peers in a relational and trust-building manner.
  • Strong listening skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain grounded in complex or sensitive conversations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with communications partners and program leadership in a developing or evolving ministry environment.
  • Strong organizational sensibility to steward content across multiple contexts, timelines, and audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Create and curate content that shapes meaningful encounters across events, digital engagement, and Guide interactions, ensuring a coherent experience wherever Explorers first connect or continue their journey.
  • Develop content designed to engage Explorers before, during, and after events, allowing content to serve as an ongoing relational bridge that initiates, supports, and deepens exploration over time.
  • Shape talks, discussion materials, questions, and take-aways that invite reflection and dialogue rather than instruction or debate.
  • Ensure content is accessible, honest, and spiritually grounded, meeting Explorers where they are while opening space for deeper consideration of meaning and faith.
  • Collaborate closely with Communications to ensure content is expressed consistently across the website and social media, and with program leadership to remain aligned with broader strategy and program intent.
  • Develop Guides in accompaniment skill, helping them walk with Explorers in ways that are spiritually attentive, relationally grounded, and trust building.
  • Strengthen Guides’ ability to facilitate table conversations marked by deep listening, thoughtful questioning, appropriate silence, and gentle redirection.
  • Prepare Guides with training to navigate complex or charged conversations with discernment and confidence, remaining present without defensiveness or avoidance.
  • Mentor and form Guides through training, gatherings, and retreats that foster self-awareness, spiritual attentiveness, and relational presence, modeling reflective practices and discernment-based leadership.
  • Organize and steward content so it can be used appropriately across different audiences and points of readiness.
  • Discern when and how content should be introduced to support growth, clarity, and trust.
  • Partner with Communications and program leadership to ensure content supports the Explorer journey rather than overwhelms it.
