About The Position

SuperSummary is seeking a Senior Content Designer to grow its library of reading resources by identifying reader needs and developing content to meet them. Reporting to the Head of Product, this role owns the content experience from the reader’s point of view: conducting reader research, prototyping concepts, and developing successful concepts into content that can be produced at scale. The role helps shape content initiatives and experiments, validates opportunities through research and benchmarking, creates prototypes, refines prompts, and hands well-defined concepts to the product team for development. It also improves product copy and content structure across the product. The ideal candidate combines strong editorial judgment with user research, design, and AI expertise. They are comfortable speaking directly with readers, forming and testing a point of view, and holding AI-generated content to the same quality standards as human-written work. The role supports book club members, avid readers, and academic audiences in understanding and enjoying books. This is a part-time contract role. The position is remote and US-based, with location flexible within the United States. The successful candidate will work with a remote-first, distributed team across Latin America, Europe, and the US.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in content design, content strategy, or digital editorial work, including shaping content for a digital product or publication.
  • Genuine passion for books, reading, and book clubs, and enthusiasm for bringing more value to readers.
  • Experience taking new content concepts from idea to launch, supported by research, prototypes, and decision-making.
  • Comfort speaking directly with users, including conducting interviews, writing surveys, and turning findings into clear recommendations.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to research, prototype, and generate content, and iterating on prompts until the output meets a high standard.
  • Comfort using standard design tools such as Figma and ability to mock up how content will look and work in the product.
  • Strong editorial judgment and excellent writing skills, particularly for clear, benefit-driven product copy.
  • Understanding of how content structure affects usability and search, and ability to use keyword research to validate demand and shape content organization.
  • Self-directed approach, with the ability to form a point of view quickly, test it, and change course based on evidence.
  • Native or near-native written and spoken English.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on SEO experience, including keyword research and optimizing content for organic search.
  • Experience with Study Guides, test preparation, edtech, or other educational content.
  • Experience designing content for AI-generated experiences or working on prompt quality at scale.
  • Strong visual or UX design skills beyond content mockups.
  • Familiarity with tools in the company’s stack, including Claude, Figma, Amplitude, Clarity, Sprig, Notion, and Linear.

Responsibilities

  • Talk regularly with readers through interviews, surveys, reviews, and support conversations to identify gaps in existing content.
  • Partner with Customer Experience to turn reader feedback, including Trustpilot reviews and NPS comments, into content opportunities.
  • Validate opportunities using user research, competitive benchmarking, SEO and keyword demand, and behavioral data, using AI tools to support research and synthesis.
  • Challenge assumptions about existing content and recommend which opportunities to pursue first.
  • Build realistic prototypes of new content using AI, real titles, and real data.
  • Explore multiple concepts, narrow them to the strongest direction, and gather feedback on concrete prototypes.
  • Apply design and usability principles so content is easy to scan, navigate, and use, especially on mobile.
  • Partner with product managers and designers on how new content appears in the product.
  • Iterate on prompts and content guidelines until generated content is consistently strong.
  • Run quality assurance with the Content team across a wide range of titles and hold AI-generated content to the same standards as hand-written work.
  • Hand well-defined concepts to the product manager for development and testing, remain involved as results come in, and turn launch results into learnings and next steps.
  • Write and review high-visibility product copy and provide structured feedback to designers and product managers.
  • Own and maintain copy guidelines and AI copy tools to improve the quality of the team’s first drafts.
  • Share AI practices that help Content and Design teams work faster without sacrificing quality.
  • Improve the organization and navigation of Study Guides, Plot Summaries, and other content, considering search visibility.
  • Keep the product voice consistent with Customer Experience and marketing messaging.
