About The Position

The Consumer Loan Officer will help members realize their financial dreams through excellent member service and consumer lending. This role operates in a strong sales and service environment that will foster long-term financial relationships with our membership and promote loan growth. The officer will review pipeline applications and conduct queue management to maximize production, meet stated service quality and production levels, and treat all inter-departmental and member referrals as a high priority. Assuring high quality service and delivery by providing excellent member service and product knowledge is key. The role requires demonstrating teamwork in all interactions and a positive member service focus, maintaining a professional and friendly manner, and consistently using the member's name during contact. The officer will work to develop strong relationships with members to ensure continued financial partnerships, answer incoming phone and video calls, and directly assist members with all consumer lending requests in a timely and professional manner. Continuous development of strong knowledge of regulations, procedures, and compliance as it applies to member service and loans, including BSA, Red Flags, UDAAP, Lending Policies, and Lending Matrixes, is essential. The role involves performing functions relative to consumer lending, including data input and loan funding, and preparing and obtaining all necessary verification and documentation for products and services. Accuracy in responding to member requests the first time is crucial. The officer must maintain knowledge of and be able to handle various materials and products such as consumer loan applications, title work, MMP and GAP policies, and debt cancellation. They will serve as a point of contact and subject matter expert with staff from all branches and other departments, ensuring account-monitoring standards are provided. Troubleshooting and/or escalating complex issues to supervisor/manager or appropriate business owners, while exercising independent judgment and decision-making, is part of the role. Active participation in credit union-wide projects and/or committees is expected. The officer will work in conjunction with management to minimize findings from various internal and external quality control, auditors, and examiners. Knowledge of Credit Union security procedures and immediate notification of any irregularities to the supervisor/manager is required. Obsolete files will be disposed of in accordance with established retention schedules or legal requirements. Proper updating of all necessary CIP information in the core processor for prime and joint members and customers on all accounts for all transactions is necessary. Reporting all suspicious activity to the BSA Officer or the BSA Specialist is a requirement. Other duties as assigned by department supervisor and manager, Senior Management, and President/CEO. Ensuring individual quarterly goals are met as outlined in the incentive plan and monthly scorecard is also a responsibility. Reviewing all loan applications for Red Flags according to BSA and Identity Theft Red Flag procedures and reporting all suspicious activity to the Risk Management department via the compliance group email are also key duties.

Requirements

  • 6 months to 2 years related experience
  • 2-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study OR 2 years related experience
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals such as Standard Operating Manuals (SOPs).
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public.
  • Must be able to read and write using the English language.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, amortizations, proportions, percentages, cash flow, net present values, and depreciation.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and arithmetic.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and flexible variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
