Consumer Brand Leader (backed by Y Combinator, $5M+ ARR, $20M+ raised)

Legion HealthSan Francisco, CA
$150,000 - $270,000Remote

About The Position

Legion is hiring a Consumer Brand Leader to make the company one of the most trusted, memorable, and culturally resonant consumer health brands in the United States. You will own how Legion shows up to patients, families, clinicians, creators, press, and the broader culture as we build a new category of AI-native medical care. You will translate a technically and clinically complex company into a brand people understand, believe, remember, and recommend. This is a player-coach role. You should be comfortable owning strategy, writing campaign concepts, building the social/content operating system, reviewing creative, pressure-testing claims, reading the dashboard, and hiring the team behind you. The right person has the healthcare trust instincts of Function, Midi, Brightside, Seed, and AG1; the brand-performance rigor of Hims, Ro, and Superpower; the product storytelling discipline of Oura and WHOOP; and the social-first creative taste of the best breakout consumer brands.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in brand marketing, creative strategy, social/content leadership, integrated marketing, communications, or consumer marketing at a high-growth consumer, DTC, marketplace, subscription, telehealth, healthcare, wellness, fintech, or other regulated company.
  • 3+ years leading brand, creative, social, content, or integrated campaign work with direct ownership of strategy, execution, team output, and measurable business impact.
  • Portfolio or case studies showing excellent consumer brand work: positioning, campaigns, social-first creative, video, founder/expert content, launch moments, editorial systems, PR narratives, or creator-led programs.
  • Strong brand-performance judgment: you believe brand should build trust, memory, preference, and cultural relevance, but you can also defend brand investment with metrics like branded search, direct traffic, conversion lift, CAC contribution, share of voice, earned media, and cohort quality.
  • Deep social and cultural fluency across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, X, podcasts, newsletters, and creator ecosystems. You understand platform behavior, not just content calendars.
  • Excellent writing and messaging instincts: you can write headlines, scripts, founder posts, campaign briefs, creator briefs, landing page copy, press talking points, and internal strategy docs.
  • High creative taste across copy, design, video, motion, typography, art direction, storytelling, and brand systems. You do not need to be the best designer in the room, but you need to know what great work looks like and how to get people there.
  • Healthcare trust judgment: you understand that marketing medical care is not the same as selling shoes. Claims, privacy, targeting, patient stories, clinical review, expectation-setting, vulnerable audiences, and regulatory scrutiny all matter.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with growth, product, clinical, legal, compliance, PR, data, operations, and executives. You can influence without authority and keep teams aligned under pressure.
  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers, creators, production partners, PR partners, designers, copywriters, social leads, and/or creative strategists with clear standards and accountability.
  • Comfortable with tools such as Figma, Webflow/Framer, Notion, Airtable, Linear, Google Analytics, PostHog/Looker/Hex, Sprout/Brandwatch, social listening tools, project management systems, and AI tools for research, ideation, scripting, editing, synthesis, and creative iteration.
  • Low ego, high urgency, strong ownership. You do not need a perfect system to start producing category-defining work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at or near companies like Function Health, Hims & Hers, Ro, Superpower, Midi Health, Brightside Health, Oura, WHOOP, Seed Health, Ritual, AG1, Maven, Parsley Health, Thirty Madison, Curology, Levels, Noom, Liquid Death, OLIPOP, Poppi, e.l.f., Rhode, or another breakout consumer brand with real trust, taste, and growth pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Own Legion’s consumer brand system across positioning, messaging, voice, visual identity, narrative architecture, campaign strategy, social presence, content standards, and brand governance.
  • Translate AI-native psychiatry, medication management, insurance-covered care, clinical quality, and regulatory complexity into simple, credible, emotionally resonant consumer storytelling.
  • Build Legion’s social-first creative engine across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Reddit, X, newsletters, short-form video, clinician-led explainers, founder content, patient education, and creator-led formats.
  • Develop platform-native content systems that make Legion trusted and talked about, not just posted about: recurring series, hooks, scripts, clinician explainers, myth-busting, patient journey education, behind-the-scenes care operations, founder POVs, and culturally relevant moments.
  • Own integrated brand campaigns across paid, owned, earned, and IRL channels, including hero campaigns, launches, PR moments, podcast/audio, YouTube, OOH tests, events, partnerships, community activations, and founder visibility.
  • Partner with growth to make brand measurable: branded search, direct traffic, social reach and saves, share of voice, earned media, creator performance, landing-page conversion lift, referral lift, CAC contribution, trust metrics, and brand health.
  • Create Legion’s trust architecture: proof points, claims hierarchy, clinical review process, AI-and-doctor messaging, safety language, patient expectation-setting, testimonial rules, and compliance-safe social proof.
  • Partner with clinical, legal, compliance, product, growth, data, and operations so every consumer touchpoint is fast-moving, accurate, defensible, and aligned with real care delivery.
  • Build a creator, expert, and community program that can scale without eroding trust: clinician voices, patient-safe stories, creator briefs, usage rights, whitelisting, medical review, disclosure standards, and performance feedback loops.
  • Own Legion’s editorial/content strategy around psychiatric access, anxiety, depression, medication management, refills, insurance-covered care, AI in medicine, and how to choose high-quality mental health care.
  • Build the brand operating system: campaign calendar, social calendar, creative review cadence, content pipeline, agency/freelance bench, production workflows, brand guidelines, measurement dashboard, and weekly brand-performance review.
  • Hire and manage the first consumer brand team across brand strategy, copy, design, social, content, video, PR/comms, creator partnerships, and creative operations.
  • Protect the brand in high-stakes moments: public responses, press narratives, sensitive healthcare topics, AI-related scrutiny, patient trust risks, and category-level conversations about the future of care.
