About The Position

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Commercial Banking & Payments Technology. You’ll be at the heart of CIBC’s digital transformation, successfully delivering complex, enterprise-scale mobile projects involving multiple back-end systems. The Consultant, Application Development is responsible for leading the technical design, development and integration of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems and provide enhancements to existing technologies. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees and performing tasks of advanced technical depth and breadth. The Consultant, Application Development collaborates with developers, architects and infrastructure specialists to gather requirements and conduct research to evaluate the application of new and emerging tools and techniques, identifying patterns and best practices to consider in technology proposals while anticipating long term business issues. The role devises new methods and procedures using strong analytic and inductive thinking, developing project plans based on appropriate standards and methodology. Requirements

• 7+ Years of experience with Mainframe technologies like COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, Cool:gen, IMS DB and MVS.
• Role tackles complex technical issues, mentors staff, and collaborates with developers, architects, and infrastructure specialists to gather requirements and evaluate new tools and techniques.
• By identifying best practices and anticipating long-term business needs, the consultant devises innovative methods, develops project plans, and applies strong analytical and inductive thinking to deliver robust solutions.

Responsibilities

• Perform and coordinate complicated application programming activities.
• Design the application's technical infrastructure using specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches.
• Lead the design and development of cost-effective and innovative solutions.
• Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business goals.
• Lead multiple complicated projects involving backend systems, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.
• Act as the mobile development team lead and run code-review sessions with the wider team to ensure the project is on track to meet goals.
• Support and mentor intermediate and senior developers by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving.
