About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking a Construction Technician 1 to perform construction inspection on Power Generation projects in the Collegeville, Pennsylvania area. The role includes interpreting specifications and construction drawings, evaluating site conditions using soil and rock samples, monitoring and reporting on construction activities, and conducting field testing of soils and concrete. The technician documents construction progress through daily and status reports and other data reporting. The position involves reviewing plans and specifications before site observations; conducting field or laboratory tests and investigations; collecting soil, asphalt, and concrete samples; preparing samples, recording data, and preparing summary reports; and documenting field activities, observations, and testing results. The technician performs tests according to prescribed procedures and standards, uses specialized equipment to prepare analyses and reports, and communicates testing results to staff, contractors, and clients. The role may involve working independently or leading crews and tasks when needed. Travel may be required up to 100% of the time, primarily on weekdays and mostly within Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with occasional travel to Virginia. Travel is mainly to construction sites and may involve backroads. The work can take place in extreme heat or cold and may require occasional weekend travel or work. The position requires physically demanding activity, including lengthy periods of walking and routinely lifting and carrying 25 to 50 pounds.

Requirements

At least 5 years of construction experience with earthwork, foundation inspection, test boring inspection, and concrete testing.
High school graduate.
Valid driver's license.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Computer skills and good visual and hearing skills.
Good organizational skills and ability to follow procedures.
Ability to work safely in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
Flexibility with work hours and willingness to travel up to 100% on weekdays, with occasional weekend travel or work.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, walk for lengthy periods, and routinely lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds.
Ability to work independently or lead crews when necessary and function positively in a team environment.

Responsibilities
