The Construction Operator 1 performs basic, routine work using prescribed procedures and seeks guidance when work deviates from the norm. The role assists with installation and maintenance of natural gas lines, meters, and regulators, and may assist with leakage surveys. It also involves completing and maintaining accurate records and reports to meet company and regulatory requirements. The position supports safe operations by identifying and resolving safety and encroachment issues, safely operating and inspecting assigned company vehicles and equipment, adhering to company values and policies, and completing required safety training. The operator completes assigned classes, Operator Qualifications (OQs), and on-the-job training specific to the Construction Learning Path, and must obtain and maintain required qualifications and certifications. The work is performed outdoors in all types of weather and may involve extreme temperatures, high noise levels, rough terrain, ladders, roofs, attics, work under houses, and confined spaces. Overnight travel may be required, and a residence requirement may apply because of call-out response time. The role may include standby duty, shifts, weekends, holidays, emergency call-outs, and occasional extended hours. It may require reporting outside the regular work area and may be performed individually or as part of a team. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring pre- and post-employment screenings, including applicable DOT and PHMSA drug testing and motor vehicle record checks.
