About The Position

SpaceX is hiring a Construction Superintendent, Electrical to lead a self-performing electrical construction team for mission-critical facilities. The role oversees foremen and a large electrical crew, setting expectations and maintaining standards for safety, quality, schedule, and conduct. The superintendent works on site to manage execution, develop crew members, address performance issues, and remove obstacles to progress. Project scope includes underground duct banks, high- and medium-voltage systems, power distribution, grounding, lighting, and process power. Current work is based in Memphis, Tennessee / Southaven, Mississippi, with the mobile construction team relocating to future U.S. sites as assignments change. Per diem is provided while on assignment. The role is part of a 24/7 operation and may involve rotating shifts, night shifts, weekends, holidays, and extended hours; night-shift work receives a differential for off-nominal hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least 3 years leading electrical construction teams, including supervision of foremen.
  • At least 3 years of direct hands-on electrical installation experience, including underground duct banks, high-voltage/medium-voltage systems, cable pulling and terminations, switchgear, and power distribution.
  • Willingness to travel to assigned projects and relocate to other U.S. construction sites as assignments change.
  • Willingness to work any shift, extended hours, and/or holidays, including rotating shifts, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Willingness to work in industrial environments with noise, heavy equipment, excavations, and energized electrical systems.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds or more unassisted and perform physically demanding tasks indoors or outdoors, in tight conditions, and/or at heights.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading large self-performing crews on industrial or mission-critical electrical projects.
  • Direct hands-on experience with industrial processes or heavy-power projects.
  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in construction management, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Track record on data centers, hyperscale facilities, or similar mission-critical electrical construction.
  • Familiarity with Memphis-area building codes, NEC, NFPA 70E, and industrial permitting.
  • Experience with Procore, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar tools on complex infrastructure work.
  • Strong grasp of electrical critical path, sequencing, and coordination with mechanical and civil trades through commissioning.
  • Understanding of data center electrical specifications, redundancy, grounding, and power systems designed for 24/7 operation.
  • History of leading diverse crews to deadlines while maintaining collaboration and safety.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, LOTO, and arc flash, and a record of building a safety culture on regulated sites.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills on technically complex electrical work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and Project.

Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee foremen and, through them, a large self-performing electrical crew installing underground duct banks, conduits, cable, terminations, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, and grounding.
  • Set expectations for safety, quality, schedule, and conduct, and hold foremen and crews accountable.
  • Remove roadblocks involving materials, access, sequencing, coordination with other trades, and decisions.
  • Recommend promotions, role changes, and corrective action based on performance.
  • Plan and run night-shift assignments, including extended hours, as part of a 24/7 operation.
  • Maintain electrical installation quality and reliability, including code compliance and system integrity required for data center uptime.
  • Track daily progress and maintain logs, red-line drawings, and as-built documentation for power infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain an aggressive construction schedule, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Champion the safety program and a zero-incident culture around energized equipment, excavations, and heavy electrical work.
  • Resolve on-site issues involving material delays, technical conflicts, sequencing, and trade coordination while attending to reliability and code compliance.
  • Inspect work for compliance with local regulations, electrical codes, safety protocols, and company quality standards.
  • Report progress, electrical construction metrics, and risks to senior leadership.
  • Relocate with the mobile team as assignments change, beginning in Memphis, TN / Southaven, MS.

Benefits
