This role supports the Water division, working on water/wastewater facilities, and requires a Project Manager with experience in these types of projects. The position involves travel within the NW Region (OR, WA, NV). The role has two steps (I, II) to allow for progression of skill and experience. Step I is for less complex projects up to $20 million with 3-5 years of experience, while Step II is for medium-scale projects of $20-$50 million with 5-10 years of experience.

Requirements

  • Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Experience in preconstruction and in managing construction projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of contract documents, materials, equipment utilization, scheduling systems, productivity analysis, construction operations, and cash flow procedures.
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Several years of experience working on water/wastewater projects.
  • Must be open to travel within our NW Region (OR, WA, NV).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on projects of $20 million and under (Step I).
  • Experience on medium scale projects of $20 - $50 million (Step II).
  • Typically 3 to 5 years of experience in this position (Step I).
  • Typically 5 to 10 years of experience (Step II).

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and management to assigned projects in a safe, profitable, and timely manner.
  • Managing work in a manner consistent with standards of quality and integrity.
  • Participating in the marketing, estimating, bidding, and contract negotiation phases of assigned projects.
  • Serving as champion for the execution of the work, including preconstruction (when assigned) and construction.
  • Having overall responsibility for project success, including profitability, safety, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Planning, acquiring, reviewing, and developing the project team for relentless project execution.
  • Establishing the project charter and a comprehensive project management plan (PMP) covering scope, procurement, environmental, time, financial, quality, safety, and risk management.
  • Understanding and administering prime contract terms and conditions, contract documents, subcontract agreements, and purchase order agreements.
  • Overseeing and ensuring processes for budgeting and cost control to complete projects within budget.
  • Participating in the preparation and review of estimates, focusing on cost control, equipment, constructability, formwork, materials, manpower, general conditions, schedule, and insurance.
  • Championing the orderly, timely transition of projects from estimating to the field, including project review meetings.
  • Coordinating with the Project Superintendent on means and methods for successful and profitable execution of work.
  • Reviewing and monitoring manpower, equipment, and material resources.
  • Managing the development of the overall CPM schedule and ensuring coordination with the Project Superintendent and Project Engineer.
  • Ensuring detailed schedules are prepared and distributed as required, paying attention to prevention and documentation of delays or changes.
  • Ensuring effective utilization of the Lean process for all scheduling activities.
  • Preparing Monthly Progress Reports, including accurate cost projections.
  • Reviewing, negotiating, and executing all change orders, supplements, and cost control budget adjustments.
  • Managing all billings to ensure timely submission of payment applications and collection of payments from the owner to maintain positive cash flow.
  • Managing the overall payment process and adhering to prompt pay laws with subcontractors.
  • Ensuring timely preparation and execution of purchase order agreements and subcontracts, including insurance certificates, bonds, and lien waivers.
  • Completing close-out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner.
  • Managing warranty callbacks quickly to maintain owner/client relationships.
  • Preventing claims, identifying potential claims, quantifying, mitigating, and resolving the effects of claims on a timely basis.
