About The Position

The Energy Solutions Construction Project Engineer will be an on-site employee reporting directly to the Construction Manager. This role is critical for the execution of internal and contractual reporting, data logging, tracking, scheduling, and overall problem-solving on specific sites. Energy Solutions primarily builds power generation facilities using natural gas combustion engines, often integrating with other power sources and technologies like batteries, solar, wind, hydrogen fuel cells, and gas turbines. Each project is unique in terms of time commitments, location, size, reporting structure, and responsibilities. The CPE will interact daily with various on-site entities including vendors, subcontractors, separate contractors, owners, and clients, and must be comfortable and confident in these interactions. Teamwork within the Energy Solutions project team (Construction Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, Lead Project Engineer, Application Engineers, QA/QC Specialist, Freight and Logistics Coordinator) is essential, with this team primarily located in Casper, WY. During time off-site or between projects, duties will shift towards pre-construction planning and design optimization with the home office in Casper, WY.

Requirements

B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar is Required.
0-5 years’ of on-site construction, maintenance, project management, and documentation and reporting experience is required (for CPE I).
2-5 years’ of computer-based tracking, logging, and reporting in a construction or similar setting, including training obtained during education, internships, etc. (for CPE I).
3+ years’ of on-site construction, maintenance, project management, and documentation and reporting experience is required (for CPE II).
3+ years’ of computer-based tracking, logging, and reporting in a construction or similar setting, including training obtained during education, internships, etc. (for CPE II).
Experience and background working in heavy construction settings, preferably in power generation or a very similar industry, such as gas compression (for CPE II).
Direct experience in the management, tracking, logging, chain of custody, and site management of large industrial scale projects, and the associated software used, such as Procore (or equivalent), as well as extensive familiarity with reading engineering drawing packages, interpreting engineering project specifications, contracts, and the like (for CPE II).
5+ years’ of on-site construction, maintenance, project management, and documentation and reporting experience is required (for CPE III).
5+ years’ of computer-based tracking, logging, and reporting in a construction or similar setting, including training obtained during education, internships, etc. (for CPE III).
2+ years in progressive leadership positions as a Project Manager, QA Manager, or related role in a heavy construction or industrial setting, preferably in the power generation industry, or a similar industry, such as gas compression (for CPE III).
Direct experience in the management, tracking, logging, chain of custody, and site management of large industrial scale projects, and the associated software used, such as Procore (or equivalent), as well as extensive familiarity with reading engineering drawing packages, interpreting engineering project specifications, contracts, and the like (for CPE III).

Nice To Haves

Knowledge base of/experience in procurement, engineering/design, manufacturing, freight & logistics, Caterpillar equipment and other common processes.
Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical with a Strong Process Background are Preferred (for BS degree).

Responsibilities

Maintain and operate multiple forms of organizational practices on a construction site, including procurement tracking, personnel tracking, material inventory, equipment resource management, and drawing organization and distribution.
Manage all project-specific reporting and documentation, including schedule interfacing, RFI logs, Submittal Logs, Manpower histograms, Progress Tracking, and Punch lists.
Interact with and manage relationships with subcontractors and on-site vendors, primarily using Procore, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
Log project obstacles and present solutions to the site manager, project manager, and construction manager.
Assist in the creation of Project Schedules with other members of the project team, as required.
Contribute to critical prefabrication activities with the project team and QA personnel.
Identify and communicate potential risks in the construction process, design as it relates to construction and constructability, and project schedules.
Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and areas for improvement in the construction and execution process.
Ensure all construction and site execution activities comply with Energy Solutions policies, legal requirements, local ordinances and permits, and ethical standards.
Professionally represent the company in appearance, attitude, and work habits.
Cooperate with and support others in the company, Caterpillar, and preferred suppliers.
Perform safe and responsible operation of company vehicles.
Complete required paperwork promptly.
Remain current on new Caterpillar and power generation products and updates.
Attend approved Caterpillar, power generation, and software product training and industry-related trade shows and seminars.
Work closely with all members of the Energy Solutions Engineering, Procurement and Construction, and broader team.
Work closely with all client and vendor personnel, as necessary.
