We are hiring a Construction Manager to join our team based in Toronto, Ontario. The Construction Manager will support a transformative transit infrastructure project in the east end of downtown Toronto and will be part of a high-performing project team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience as a Construction Manager on large scale rail or major infrastructure projects across both self‑perform and subcontracted scopes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting contract requirements, including contractor / client negotiations with advanced communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to maintain a professional and effective working relationship with the Project Owner, Project Team, and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to engage teams and drive high performance through expert knowledge of construction safety standards and a strong commitment to fostering a proactive safety culture.
  • Strong understanding of risk management.
  • Demonstrate a flexible, solutions‑oriented approach, effectively resolving challenges in constrained environments where options are limited and timelines are critical.
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of successfully working within multidiscipline teams.
  • Results oriented with an extremely high work ethic, stringent quality standards and a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Construction Director in developing and delivering key project planning outputs, including Construction Management Plans, constructability reviews, procurement strategies for permanent works and critical subcontractor packages, and the identification, assessment, and mitigation of construction risks.
  • Manage and lead a construction team of field engineers, construction leads, and superintendents to execute work safely and efficiently, ensuring quality standards and schedule adherence across both self‑perform and subcontracted scopes.
  • Monitor and track construction progress, prepare progress reports and verify and approve progress payments, including cost forecasting for labour and equipment in alignment with the project program.
  • Tracking and reviewing changes during construction.
  • Work with the Project Manager to evaluate, negotiate, quantify, and approve claims.
  • Facilitate and run construction management meetings between Contractors, the Owner, Engineering, and other key stakeholders.
  • Work with Engineering during construction to facilitate solutions to design issues and challenges, coordinate design and construction interfaces with other subcontractors.
  • Ensure construction completion and close‑out documentation is developed and maintained in parallel with field execution to prevent delays to project completion and handover
  • Lead and promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all project activities by ensuring full compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable legislation.
  • Planning, implementing, and enforcing project‑specific safety programs; supervising safe work practices; conducting regular site inspections and safety meetings; address hazards and unsafe conditions; ensure proper incident reporting and investigations and holding all staff, subcontractors, and suppliers accountable for safe performance
