About The Position

Kleinfelder / CMWorks is seeking professionals with experience in public works construction, whether in inspection or construction management, to join their team. They are looking for individuals who can immediately contribute to projects. The company values a people-first culture, technical excellence, and employee growth. CMWorks specializes in construction management, observation/inspection services, and laboratory/materials testing, playing a key role in developing and maintaining infrastructure. They are open to semi-retired professionals on a project-by-project basis.

Requirements

  • Experience on public works projects such as buildings, facilities, site work, aviation and airfield work, roadways and highways, underground utilities (water, sewer, drainage), bridges and structures, and water and wastewater facilities.
  • Understanding of how projects are built.
  • Ability to be trusted in the field, stay organized, and communicate clearly with both the contractor and the client.
  • Approximately 10+ years of construction inspection or related experience.
  • Strong public works and public agency experience.
  • Familiarity with materials testing (soils, concrete, asphalt).
  • Ability to read plans and understand construction sequencing.
  • OSHA 30 or ability to obtain.
  • Comfortable using project management software.
  • Approximately 10+ years of construction management experience on public works projects.
  • Experience delivering projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Comfortable leading teams and serving as the client’s point of contact.
  • Strong understanding of budgets, schedules, and project controls.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications such as ACI, ICC, IMSA, ATTSA, NASSCO, IMSA etc. are a plus.
  • Nevada public agency experience is a plus.
  • PE, CCM, AIA or PMP is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Field inspection on active construction projects
  • Daily reports, quantity tracking, and documentation of work performed
  • Reading and interpreting plans, specs, and special provisions
  • Coordinating with contractors, labs, and the project team
  • Tracking materials testing and understanding results
  • Assisting with submittments, RFIs, and basic project documentation
  • Participating in meetings and helping keep communication moving
  • Constructability / Biddability review experience
  • Lead project teams and work directly with the client
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and overall project delivery
  • Run meetings and coordinate with designers, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Oversee submittals, RFIs, change management, and project controls
  • Support proposals, client relationships, and future work
  • Ability to oversee inspectors and perform inspections
