About The Position

WSP is seeking a Construction Manager, Federal Programs to work out of either Richmond, VA or Virginia Beach, VA. This role involves managing projects through both pre-construction and construction phases, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, quality, and safety standards. The position requires coordination with various stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors, and involves risk management, project planning, and the implementation of project management systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant construction experience
  • EIT registration.
  • A demonstrated ability to read and completely understand contract documents
  • Deep understanding of construction practices, building codes, and project delivery methods
  • Successful relationship with clients and team members in the field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven experience in construction management, preferably with a focus on owner representation
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Ability to obtain a US government security clearance.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in site selection and feasibility analysis.
  • Conduct constructability reviews of design documents.
  • Coordinate cost estimating and budget development efforts.
  • Lead project planning and schedule preparation and coordinate with project controls team.
  • Support client during project procurement phase and contractor selection.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other consultants.
  • Identify and manage potential risks, mitigate or minimize.
  • Spearhead the implementation of a PMIS system for the client.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget.
  • Manage project change and recommend actions.
  • Oversee quality control and safety compliance.
  • Reviews project activities with client, designer, and contractor’s field supervision resolving any issues.
  • Oversees materials testing activities.
  • Reviews daily inspection reports and other project documentation.
  • Facilitate communication between the owner, design team, and contractors.
  • Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings.
  • Analyze project data to identify cost-savings opportunities.
  • Provide recommendations for project scope adjustments as needed.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
