About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Construction Management Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Denver, CO office. In this role, you will act as an Owner's Representative for State, Federal, or local clients, primarily on roadway-related projects such as asphalt and concrete paving, bridges, guard rail, and traffic signals. Under supervision, you will observe contractor work, perform quality assurance (QA) activities, and conduct non-manual field work applying acquired knowledge to observe moderately complex construction contracts. You will coordinate with the field lead/internal project manager and/or owner on assigned tasks, and record/document construction activities in accordance with contract requirements, including daily diaries and payment reports. Additionally, you will participate in internal quality control checks, maintain quality standards, check computations, and review designs and drawings. Safety is paramount, and you will follow all applicable safety protocols established by contract documents, client standards, and internal policies.

Requirements

  • Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering or construction management degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work; ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors; and ability to perceive back-up alarms and other warnings.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, subject to insects, flooded terrain, equipment/traffic, and other hazards.
  • Position may require nonstandard work shifts, such as long hours, weekends, or nights as per client and/or manager’s direction.
  • Position may require driving a vehicle to a jobsite daily with mileage reimbursement.
  • Incumbent must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all applicable safety protocols while onsite, including requirements established by contract documents, client standards, and internal policies.
