About The Position

A Midwest multi-disciplined engineering firm is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer to join its Naperville team. The role involves coordinating construction activities, conducting on-site observations as needed, documenting construction progress, and providing general civil engineering and client service support. Salary is commensurate with experience. Applicants must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from an accredited program, with an emphasis on construction engineering.
• At least 8 years of progressive experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain one within one year.
• Past IDOT or Illinois Tollway project experience.
• Construction experience with Chicago DOT or Metra.
• Experience with IDOT/Tollway construction management software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison with the contractor.
• Conduct on-site observations as needed.
• Coordinate construction activities.
• Maintain job site records, including daily reports, job meeting minutes, approval drawings, and/or pay requests.
• Observe and document construction activities and maintain a daily log.
• Monitor the progress schedule and shop drawing log.
• Review pay requests and verify completed work.
• Perform general civil engineering and client service duties.
