About The Position

This role is responsible for performing construction coordination for small to moderate construction assignments, working under general supervision. The primary responsibilities include leading safety on assigned projects, ensuring contractors meet safety and environmental performance expectations through daily walkthroughs. The coordinator will work with the site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization to secure safe work permits, monitor compliance, and maintain a strong safety culture by auditing and coaching contractors. They will monitor construction productivity and schedule performance, providing feedback on risks to the Construction Manager. Effective communication with site Project Managers and Project Stakeholders is essential, as is providing daily construction updates to the Projects Scheduler for schedule maintenance. The role requires managing and prioritizing the work of multiple field contractors simultaneously, with the ability to occasionally work adjusted shifts (nights and/or weekends) to support site construction activity. The coordinator is responsible for stopping work when necessary and escalating safety concerns immediately. They will deliver weekly progress reports, conduct daily reviews to ensure field installations match design intent, and review project schedules with contractors, providing feedback for improvement. Daily identification and documentation of field safety hazards are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • No licensing is required for this position.
  • A minimum 2 years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.
  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
  • Ability to handle stress with poise.
  • Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.
  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members.
  • Ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • A leader in safety on assigned projects including setting safety and environmental performance expectations of contractors and holding them accountable through standard daily walkthroughs.
  • In cooperation with the site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization, accountable for securing safe work permits for contractors, ensuring all applicable daily permits are in place before the start of work, and monitoring compliance with required permits throughout the day.
  • Maintains an active presence in the field during construction activity and site turnarounds
  • Promotes a strong culture of safety by partnering with the site EHS team to monitor, audit, and coach field contractors on safe work best practices.
  • Monitors construction productivity and schedule performance of their assigned projects while providing feedback on risks identified to the site Construction Manager
  • Able to communicate construction status effectively with site Project Managers and Project Stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate daily construction updates to the Projects Scheduler so a schedule of values can be maintained for their assigned projects
  • Able to manage and prioritize the works of multiple field contractors simultaneously to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Ability to occasionally work an adjusted shift (nights and/or weekends) to support site construction activity
  • Responsible to ‘stop work’ when stop work triggers are met and Immediate escalation of any field contractor safety concerns to site EHS department and the assigned Project Manager
  • Weekly construction contractor progress reports delivered to the assigned Project Manager and site scheduler
  • Daily reviews conducted to ensure what is installed in the field matches the design intent
  • Daily reviews of project schedule with contractor. Daily feedback should be supplied to the contractor identifying areas of opportunity for schedule improvement.
  • Daily identification of field safety hazards that could affect contractor work going on that day. These hazards should be documented and reviewed with the contractor daily before start of work.
