Day Kimball Health is hiring a Constant Attendant for its Patient Staffing Department in Putnam, Connecticut. This is a per diem position with all shifts available, and the expectation is to work four shifts per month. The role includes two types of patient observation. Constant Attendant observation may be less restrictive and can involve observing more than one patient. A 1:1 assignment requires strict, continuous observation, with the attendant remaining within arm’s length of the patient at all times. Patients assigned to 1:1 observation are on suicide precautions or are restrained for behavioral management. The attendant remains alert and maintains visual contact with the patient, assists with daily activities as directed by the nurse, and helps the nurse apply or remove restraints. The position requires the ability to meet its physical demands, cope with and function under stress, and apply non-violent crisis intervention training. Successful completion of the hospital’s Constant Attendant orientation is required within three months of hire.
